Introduction, Competitive History

Hello there! As you may already know, my name is Bernard Smith and I am an IT major at Towson. However, I play a number of video games competitively under the alias “Struggleton!”. Ever since I was a young kid I played games like Mario Kart DS and Wii very competitively and played those games at a high level, with a very high win rate for Mario Kart DS and Top 10 regional rankings on the Mario Kart Wii tournament boards, for a time.

I also played Fortnite for a time, eventually getting to Champion’s League within the game’s arena ranking based system. However, while playing the game I suffered a wrist injury that prevented me from playing the game for a period of time while my hand recovered.

In 2015 to 2018, I played Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS (Shorthand being Smash 4.) at a very high level of execution. I played in a number of strong and high level onlineĀ  communities. This carried over to its current sequel, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate where I have made significant rankings in MD/VA tournaments (13th / 116 + 17th / 80 @ Xanadu, a notable Maryland tournament series and 129th / 760 at Super Smash Con: Fall Fest, a major tournament for the year of 2021.)

I have met a number of people through playing video games, some of which have become my best friends. The community behind gaming is large and there is a lot of fun to be had playing games competitively. There are a number of resources and guides on how to build up skill and mentality to play games at a high level, which I will provide under a separate page under the Gaming category of this site.
