Egypt’s history is known to be one of the richest and most deepest histories in the world. Egypt’s history goes way back into 3100 BCE, making it one of the oldest civilizations in history.
Egypt is known for a variety of things, but most notably the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
Egypt is also home to the longest river in the world, the Nile river, which stretches across parts of Africa.
Egypt was under occupation by British rule for 1882, until becoming independent in 1922, and had full sovereignty after World War 2. From 1981 til 2011, Egypt was ruled under President Mubarak and the Mubarak Government. In January of 2011, this sparked nation-wide protests and demonstrations to remove him from office, known as the 2011 Egyptian revolution. This sparked many Arab countries to protest against their own governments, which is known today as the Arab spring. Today, Egypt’s president is Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
