The Outer Banks has many notable landmarks that any and all visitors should be sure to check out before returning home. Some of my personal favorites include:
Jockey’s Ridge State Park (also known as the dunes): It may not look like it from the photo, but the dunes are actually huge. It almost seems like a desert in the middle of a beach town. Unlike the small mounds at the beach, people are encouraged to wander all over these dunes. They extend all the way to the water which creates a stark contrast.

Currituck Beach Lighthouse: Lighthouses are a staple feature of the Outer Banks, and they come in all different varieties. This one in particular is made of brick and has black painted features that really make it pop.

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse: Differing greatly from the Currituck Beach Lighthouse in terms of design, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse has diagonal black and white stripes wrapping it up in a pattern that resembles a candy cane.
