There is so much to do in the Outer Banks that not everything can be covered on a single webpage, but here are just a few things that someone vacationing in the Outer Banks may find themselves doing:
Relaxing on the beach: It’s called vacation for a reason, why do a bunch of tiring activities when you can just sit back and relax on the beach? I like to make sure that for everyday I spend doing something adventurous on vacation, I have one day set aside to relax and decompress. There is no better place to kick back, read a book, nap, or just get some sun then the beach.
Paddle boarding: If you believe you have good balance and the water is relatively calm, you should definitely try paddle boarding! It can be quite tiring to get out past the waves, but there are plenty of piers and boats that can help you skip the trip of battling the waves. Once you are out past the breaking waves, it is very peaceful. Some people even do yoga on their boards.
Sea kayaking: Similar to paddle boarding there is a lot of effort required to get a kayak past the waves breaking, but if the day is relatively calm you may want to attempt taking one out from the beach. Many companies offer sea kayak rentals such as hatteraswatersports and obxadventure
Fishing: A boat may help when fishing in the ocean, but it isn’t completely necessary. It isn’t as rare as someone might think for a shark to be reeled in onto the beach. Whether using a kayak to drop bait far out or just casting from the shore, eventually you will catch something. Schools of Spanish mackerel consistently go by which must be why black tip sharks are lurking further out. Just be sure to fish when people aren’t swimming near by, that way they don’t run into the line.
Watching the wildlife: The Outer Banks is home to many species of animals. There are horses, birds, and countless species fish jumping out of the water. For those who have an interest in witnessing nature, be sure to visit the Outer Banks!
