Thrifting
Thrifting is the process of shopping at a Thrift Store, Flea Market or Garage Sale for gently used clothing, furniture or curios at a discounted price. Thrift stores receive donations from people on a daily basis and their employees stock the store with these gently used items. Many times, these items can be a rare find, like a concert T-Shirt, but often times, there are just really solid products for people to purchase to enhance their daily lives at a lower cost then retail.
Thrifting can be a different experience than consumer shopping. I often think of myself on the “hunt” looking for great finds or solid gear to buy and sell. Unlike consumer shopping, the costs for these vintage clothes are very inexpensive, typically. You can find just about anything at a Thrift store from: appliances, furniture, games, electronics, music, kitchenware, bedding and of course a lot of clothes.
Over the past 5-10 years, Vintage Clothing and Second Hand fashion has become very popular. Vintage clothing can be modified, many celebrities wear Vintage clothing and they have a low carbon footprint as we are reusing clothing.

My vintage journey started in the begging of covid when I began exploring ways to make money independently. I began to go to thrift stores everyday started a curation of things I found to be appealing. While constantly in the thrift store I began to see many of the same people frequent the stores I shopped at. One of the shoppers/ressellers name was Jessie who happened to own a shop a couple miles away from my house and told me I should check out his store.
Not soon there after I went to go check out his shop and expressed my interest in vintage/reselling and he ended up taking me under his wing for the next 6 months. At that point I was hooked. I learned the ins and outs of identifying vintage, the importance of making connections (buying and selling from other buyers) as well as becoming aware on how to get involved selling at vintage events, and how important nostalgia is to the vintage community. To this day vintage clothing is my passion and I hope to open a store in the near future!
