Bioluminescent Bay Kayaking
There are only 5 bioluminescent bays in the world, and Puerto Rico has the brightest one! In Fajardo, Puerto Rico there is a company that will take you on a 2 hour kayak tour of the bay, Kayaking Puerto Rico. You begin the kayaking at sundown, or night, and follow a mangrove lined channel that will lead you into the bay where you can paddle around and witness the phenomenon first hand. You can hear the sounds of the exotic nature as you are in the channel on the way in and out.
The Islands of Vieques & Culebra
Off of the eastern shore of Puerto Rico are two small islands which you can get to by ferry or small plane. These are the islands of Vieques and Culebra. These islands can provide you with either a day trip or multiple days of fun. There are gorgeous beaches, small hotels, restaurants and excursions like horseback riding, snorkeling, hiking and sailing.
El Yunque Rainforest
The El Yunque Rainforest is in the northeast area of Puerto Rico. It is also the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest Service. Here you can go on so many hiking trails, see and take a dip in waterfalls, or drive over to the observation tower and see the whole rainforest. A fun fact about the rainforest is that there are no dangerous animals in there.
Here is exactly what you will hear when hiking through the rainforest.
