How to Volunteer for Sustainability!

This is a clean beach after all the trash from the beach has been put into garbage bags from the beach cleanup. I'm using this image to visually display key components from my page.
Look at this pretty beach! Thanks to the volunteers who did a beach clean-up, all of the trash on the beach has been relocated to garbage bags!

According to the article “6 Volunteering Ideas to Protect the Planet” on dosomething.org, you can use volunteering to promote environmental sustainability. Something you can do is go to local clean-ups. At a local clean-up, you pick up trash from natural places like beaches, parks, rivers, etc. which helps keep wildlife safe and keeps the area clean. You can also plant trees! Planting trees has a ton of benefits, including restoration of natural habitats, air quality improvement, and promoting biodiversity. You don’t only have to plant trees, planting and helping at community gardens can help! It provides fresh, local foods which will help bring more sustainable, low-impact food to your community. If manual labor isn’t your thing, then you could volunteer at a local environmental organization! A lot of the time, they are looking for the help. You would be doing things like setting up events or leading lectures on environmental sustainability. If you are an animal lover, you can volunteer at wildlife sanctuaries! You can do things like helping with species monitoring and taking care of the animals in need. This will help promote biodiversity and help stop endangerment/extinction. Lastly, you can volunteer by advocating for sustainability, especially by being involved in advocacy campaigns and actively supporting sustainable legislation. Volunteering is a great way to feel rewarded for doing your part in sustainability!
