As mentioned briefly at the end of the Employability page, there are numerous vocations that can be pursued after receiving a computer science degree because this degree provides recipients with a wide range of skills that can be applied to a wide range of careers.
Some examples of the skills are:
Coding and Programming
Almost all businesses and corporations are backed by technology to enhance their effectiveness. Examples such as the healthcare industry needs coders and programmers to manage healthcare records, the finance industry to research market data and transactions, and the educational industry to create new learning tools and software.
Problem SolvingĀ
Computer Science requires programmers to create code from scratch to achieve the desired results. During and after the coding process caveats and “bugs” can appear that programmers need to creatively solve. In other industries, problems almost always arise having the decisiveness and creativity to come up with new solutions is a skill that can be applied to many industries.
Communication
Students in computer science learn to explain complicated ideas in simple terms, to collaborate with others, and to express their views clearly. Strong communication skills allow workers to build positive relationships between employers and/or clients, be effective at sharing information and ideas, or even be a good leader by expressing goals, vision, and guidance to a team.
