How to build a computer:
Building a computer can be overwhelming for someone who has no experience with computers and has never done it before. However, it is much easier than it seems if you break it down into a few simple steps.
- Gather the parts which fit your budget and prepare a clean flat surface to build it on
- You will need your case, motherboard, and CPU. First, take the motherboard out of its box and lay in on top of the box. Next, take the CPU out and find the CPU slot; line up the corner that has an arrow with the arrow on the motherboard and gently let the CPU fall into place. Next, pull down the level and secure the CPU into place.
- Next you will need to install the CPU fan. The CPU fan will come in the same box as the CPU. Take the fan and line it up with the 4 screws around the CPU. Most fans come with thermal paste applied already however, to be safe check if yours does. If it does not apply about a pea-sized drop to the top of your CPU before you install the fan, this will keep the CPU cool.
- Next you will be installing the RAM. For this you will need to take the RAM out of its box and find the RAM slots on the motherboard. Typically there will be 2 stick of RAM. You will need to open the slots by pulling back the levers and line up the RAM with 2 slots that are not adjacent to each other. As the picture shows below place them into the grey or black slots but not one of each.

- Next you will need to install your SSD card. To do this find your SSD slot on your mother board and take off the cover. You may need to insert the SSD card into this slot and secure it with a screw.
- Next you will need to screw in your motherboard. In order to do this find the standoffs in your case. Line up your motherboard with the standoffs making sure the motherboard is facing the correct direction. Then screw it into place. Typically the ram will be vertical and on the right side.

- Next if you are installing a graphics card in your PC, remove the required amount of panels in the back of your case for your card. Next line up the graphics card with the slot on your motherboard, this should also line up with the panels you removed on the back of your case. Once it is secured in go to where you removed the panels and screw the graphics card into place. You will next need to connect the cable from your graphics card to the motherboard.
- After that you will need to unbox your power supply and hook up all of its cables to its designated location. Often times your power supply will come with a diagram or instruction manual explaining which cables go where on the motherboard and what they each do.
- If your case has fans, audio ports, usb ports, and a power button, you will need to also look at you cases manual and connect each of those cables to their designated location of the motherboard.
- Once this is all completed you can then turn on your computer and plug in an HDMI cord to a monitor connected to the computer and you can then decide which operation system you want and go from there.
- Congratulations, you have successfully built yourself a computer.
