Summary: Bowser has taken all of the paint away from Port Prisma as well as kidnapping the princess. He flung all of the Big Paint Stars all over Prisma Island. Mario and his paint bucket companion Huey must save the Big Paint Stars, save Princess Peach, and stop Bowser from using the paint for his evil plans.
What I liked about this game
1.) In each level there are colorless spots that you need to repaint to 100% complete that level. As someone who likes completing Mario games to 100%, this was something that I really enjoyed. It’s really satisfying to receive a gold flag next to the level marking it 100% complete.
2.) There are items in the game called Thing’s. They are basically objects that you would see in your everyday life. For example, a plunger and a disco ball. Things were originally introduced in the game before it Paper Mario Sticker Star, but they significantly improved “Things” overall. Instead of 64 Things in its predecessor many of which you don’t need to use to complete the game, Color Splash only has 21 Things in which I believe you need to use all of the Things at some point except for like one or 2.
3.) The soundtrack for this game is probably one of my favorite video game original soundtracks of all time. Every track in this game is super memorable that when I listen to it, I can picture exactly where I would be in the game. And every level is so great that it makes listening to this music all the more worthwhile.
This track is called Bloo Bay Beach. It was composed by Takeru Kanazaki, Shigemitsu Goto, and Fumihiro Isobe. What I like about this track is that whether you are listening to this track in game or outside of the game, its great music to help your feel relaxed.
