Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients List:

  • 12 uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 pound lead ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 diced onion
  • 2 minced cloves garlic
  • 36 oz pasta sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 beaten egg

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Boil lasagna noodles in a large bot of salted water. Cook according to directions on package or until al dente. Drain noodles, rinse under cold water and set noodles aside.
  2. Brown beef, onion, sausage, and garlic in a large skillet over medium to high heat until there is no pink in meat. Drain fat.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, pasta sauce, Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black better. Simmer in uncovered skillet over medium heat until thickened or for 5 minutes
  4. Using a separate bowl, combine 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, parsley, ricotta, egg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  5. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in a 9×13 casserole dish or pan. Top with 3 lasagna noodles. Then layer with 1/3 of ricotta cheese mixture and 1 cup of meat sauce. Repeat two more times. Finish with 3 lasagna noodles topped with the remaining sauce.
  6. Cover pan with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and sprinkle the remaining 2 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese. Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until it is bubbly and browned. If desired, broil for 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Rest for 15 minutes or more before cutting.
