Ingredients List:
- 12 uncooked lasagna noodles
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 pound lead ground beef
- 1/2 pound Italian sausage
- 1 diced onion
- 2 minced cloves garlic
- 36 oz pasta sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 beaten egg
Cooking Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Boil lasagna noodles in a large bot of salted water. Cook according to directions on package or until al dente. Drain noodles, rinse under cold water and set noodles aside.
- Brown beef, onion, sausage, and garlic in a large skillet over medium to high heat until there is no pink in meat. Drain fat.
- Stir in tomato paste, pasta sauce, Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black better. Simmer in uncovered skillet over medium heat until thickened or for 5 minutes
- Using a separate bowl, combine 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, parsley, ricotta, egg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in a 9×13 casserole dish or pan. Top with 3 lasagna noodles. Then layer with 1/3 of ricotta cheese mixture and 1 cup of meat sauce. Repeat two more times. Finish with 3 lasagna noodles topped with the remaining sauce.
- Cover pan with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and sprinkle the remaining 2 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese. Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until it is bubbly and browned. If desired, broil for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Rest for 15 minutes or more before cutting.
