How To Get an Itasha

To make your own Itasha, it is easier than one may think, however with most car related things, it can be expensive if you are untrained in designing car wraps, printing on vinyl, or wrapping a vehicle. Luckily, there are many shops able to do this for the end user, like Bimyo workshop, Yume Worx, Attomikku, and many more all over the country.

Step 1: Design
First is the design itself. If you are capable of working with vectored images, you can do this step easily yourself, however it is recommended to go to a professional designer to do this process if not. Your designer will work with you to draw a character you like, and then marry that design to a car livery. the more idea you have knowing what you want, the easier this step is.

Step 2: Print
Second is the printing process. If you chose to use a shop to print out your design, most have a vinyl printer and will be able to print and mail the design you created directly to your door making it easy to move on to your final step. It is not recommended to print out your design on your own, however even if you do not or cant print with your wrap designer, there are many places that allow you to submit your wrap and they will print and mail it to you in the same way

Step 3: Installation
The final step is the installation. This is another difficult step to do alone, however possible. On this step, you or a wrap shop applies the wrap to the car. If done correctly there should be no air bubbles or blemishes and that marks the end of the creation of an Itasha, all thats left is to drive it!

Notes
It is important to remember that caring for a vinyl wrap is more difficult than a regular paint job. It is important to care for it properly with specialty cleaning products, and while a good wrap can take abuse from the sun for 4 years or longer, it is better to keep it covered for the longevity of the wrap, as the process can be anywhere from $2,000-$5,000.
