Why to Visit Iran

Background

Iran, officially called the Islamic Republic of Iran, is in Western Asia. It’s surrounded by countries like Iraq, Turkey, and Afghanistan, and it also has coastlines along the Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf, and Gulf of Oman. Known as Persia until 1935, Iran has an ancient history, with one of the world’s earliest civilizations developing there. The region was famous for its mighty Persian Empire long ago. Iran has contributed much to various fields, such as art, science, and medicine over the centuries. Since 1979, after a significant change in government, it has been an Islamic republic. Iran’s economy is extensive and varied, heavily supported by its vast supplies of oil exports, and natural gas, and the lead seller of saffron.
