Background Information
Wilt Chamberlain was drafted to the Philadelphia Warriors in the 1959 NBA draft. The Philadelphia team today is called the 76ers. The Philadelphia Warriors moved to San Francisco and are now called the Golden State Warriors. Then, in 1965, he played for the new Philadelphia 76ers. A few years later in 1968, he played for the Los Angeles Lakers untill the 1973 season. Wilt Chamberlain is mostly known for being the first and only NBA player to ever score 100 points in a single game. A lot of people like to discredit him because he played in an easier era of basketball. Even so, the stats he produced durring his NBA career were nothing short of fantastic. Wilt’s Nickname is the “Big Dipper” because he was so tall sometimes he had to duck under doorways at school.
Accolades
Wilt is a 2 time NBA champion and a 4 time NBA MVP. He was also named the Rookie of the Year for the 1959 rookie class. He was also named to 13 all star games. Wilt averaged 30.1 points, 22.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assisst throughout his career. Although Wilt played in a more simle era of basketball, his dominance shows that he deserves to be recognized as one of the all time great NBA players.
