The Taj Mahal, built between 1631 and 1648 by Emperor Shah Jahan to honor and house the mausoleum of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, is not only a monument of India’s rich past but also the unofficial symbol of the nation, drawing millions of visitors from all over the world.
The Taj Mahal has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1983 in addition to being one of the seven wonders of the world.
