Caring for Seven Pets

Warning!!!

There is a lot of work required to own this many pets. Not only that, it makes going on vacations very hard, since only the fish can be left alone without human care. Please do not think that I am making this to say that everyone should own this many pets, because truthfully it isn’t for everyone. It takes a dedicated and animal loving person.

Supplies/Cost

Every animal has different needs as well, so again I separated it per animal:

Valentino: Aside from food and water, Valentino has multiple scratching posts, toys, three litter boxes (he is very picky, if he does not have multiple he will pee on the rug), and medications. This included in his vet bills, he is a very costly old man.

Milo: Milo has a variety of toys, two beds, a crate that he just graduated from, medications, tearstain remover, stairs for the couch (he has a bad knee), leashes, harnesses, poop bags, supplements, etc. This included in his vet bills, he is a very costly pet as all dogs are.

Guinea Pigs: They need hay, bedding, a cage, vegetables, pellets, water bottles, toys/enrichment, blankets/beds, etc. Guinea pigs are extremely costly when you are first get them, however as time goes on the only expenses are their food and bedding, which is not as costly as it may seem (under $70 per month)

Shark: Shark needs his tank, dirt, real or fake plants (preferably real), water dish, food dish, food and treats, lighting, enrichment, etc. Crested Geckos are similar to guinea pigs in the sense that getting all of their initial supplies is costly (over $300 for PROPER equipment) however their monthly upkeep is cheap (under $20 per month).

Fish Tank: Fish are the least expensive and needy of them all. They only need food, tank, filter for tank, and decor. Fish are similar to the others in the sense that getting all of their initial supplies is somewhat costly, however their monthly upkeep is cheap (under $15 per month).

Feeding

Each animal is very different, so feeding varies per animal:

Valentino: Valentino is on a dry food diet due to his age, he refuses to eat any wet food. We hydrate his food every time he eats with hot water, as dehydration is an issue among cats. He also eats three times a day due to his issue gaining weight. He eats like a pig although appears super skinny.

Milo: Milo is on a wet food diet because he has several allergies that kibble cannot support. He also receives supplements with his food including a supplement to support his gut health. He eats twice a day although will take any scraps he can get to.

Guinea Pigs: Charlie and Tilly eat twice a day. However, they need to have their hay restocked at all times. Guinea pigs must continuously eat for their health, so they have open access to hay all day. In the morning, they receive a scoop of their pellets and in the evening they receive an assortment of vegetables. They mainly eat bell peppers and lettuce. However, they can eat fruit in small portions. Their favorites are blueberries and banana.

Shark: Shark eats every other day. He gets a mixture that has all the nutrients he needs for his health. For treats, he receives dried crickets, mango or other fruit treats, etc.

Fish Tank: They eat regular fish food as well as blood worms in the morning.
