History

Montreal’s original name was Ville-Marie. Montreal was founded in 1642 by Paul de Chomedey, sieur de Maisonneuve. Before European settlers the area was inhabited by the Saint. Lawrence Iroquoians group of indigenous people. Montreal takes pride in its history as it has many features throughout the city. It has statues of historians, many museums and places to get a good understanding of how Montreal was founded.

Old Montreal is the greater part of Montreal. It is where they first settled and expanded from there. they still kept it as its own little part of the downtown area and it is open to the public. It has nice little shops and restaurants to go and enjoy the place.

  • Notre-Dame Basilica 

Notre-Dame Basilica is a known church in Montreal, and around the world. Many famous people have gotten married and have had funerals. A big name celebrity such as Celine Dion got married in the basilica. It is a very nice place to visit and see the culture it has. It is a very famous tourist pot and a lot of people attend the services they hold.

This is another famous place to visit as there are many activities to do and it is where the doc is for the ships. You see many big boats pass by and people who go on their boats for the day.
