Santorini is a beautiful island in the Aegean Sea, well known for its cliffside and white-washed houses. It was formed as a result of a volcanic eruption nearly ~3,600 years ago, and continues to be an active but dormant volcano.
Similar to Rhodes, Santorini has a rich history of various rulers in the Medieval and Ottoman periods. It was first by the Romans along with several other Greek territories until the 15th century, when the Ottoman Empire raided the island despite various treaties protecting it.
Although Santorini is a small island, it remains a popular tourist destination because of its size, aesthetic hillside, and breath-taking sunsets. There are a few beaches with unique features as a result of the volcanic history. It is worth visiting for a short while!
