Rhodes

Rhodes is an island in south-eastern Greece, well known for it’s place in history and its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Rhodes’ attraction comes from the several historical sites that best illustrate the wonders of the ancient world.

It is located near the nation of Turkey, Egypt, and Syria, making it an island with a very rich culture and history.

Rhodes is well defined by the Knights’ period. The island was a constant target through out the 1300s to 1500s, prompting for the city’s leaders to build infrastructure, protecting the city from attackers on the sea.

Several churches and mosques were also build during Rhodes’ Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Italian periods. These structures are a symbol of Rhodes today and highlight the historical significance of the island.
