Impact of ‘Haikyuu’ on Volleyball

Haikyuu: 

Haikyuu, is a Japanese anime adapted from a manga revolved around volleyball. The main character Hinata Shoyo falls in love with volleyball after seeing high school volleyball being played at nationals on TV. The story revolves around his improvement in volleyball and the bonds and people he meet as he strives to be the best hitter, who is rather short. Hinata’s goal is to prove everyone wrong even though he isn’t genetically gifted.

Impact on Volleyball:

The realistic aspect of Haikyuu is what makes it so loveable. The skills showed on the series is attainable and draws a lot of viewers. The anime explains the sport of volleyball in an entertaining manner so that the audience can learn the sport while being amused. And due to the social media era we’re in, the anime is globalized and reaches many different continents making the same impact on the sport it does in Japan.
