Ethnic groups

As previously mentioned, Nigeria has over 250 tribes. I will briefly discuss the three largest tribes in Nigeria.

Hausa

The Hausa tribe is the largest tribe in Nigeria, making up 25% of the population. The Hausa are known for nomadic pastoralism and tasty street foods like Fura da nono, Suya, and Kunu. Most Hausas practice Islam. A Hausa king is known as Sarki.

Yoruba

The Yoruba tribe is the second largest tribe in Nigeria, making up 21% of the population. They are known for scarification and textile weaving, known as Asoke. This tribe has made the nation proud by producing international icons like Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Sola Sobowale, and many others. They have also made breakthroughs in the entertainment industry.

Igbo

The Igbo tribe is the third largest tribe in Nigeria, making up 18% of the population. They are known for their goal-oriented spirit and they are mostly business tycoons. Some popular Igbo dishes are Abacha, Achicha, Egusi soup, Isi Ewu, and Nkwobi.
