Fish and Chips:  Are the most famous food in New Zealand that you will find in any town. Made out of battered fresh fish that is deep-fried with hot chips. A kiwi favorite is to enjoy them with tomato sauce.

Pavlova: Has a base made out of meringue with whipped cream and fruit (typically berries and kiwi) on top. This is usually eaten on special occasions such as Christmas.

Maori Hangi: This is a traditional Maori way of cooking where food is cooked underground. The most common foods you will find in a Hangi are chicken, pork, kumara (sweet potato), potato, and pumpkin.

Hokey Pokey Ice Cream: This is a New Zealand ice-cream flavor consisting of vanilla ice cream with small bits of honeycomb toffee.  A common thing to do in New Zealand is to get hokey pokey ice cream in a cone from the local dairy.

Meat Pies: Are made of unlimited kinds of filling in a flakey buttery pastry.  You will find meat pies in any bakery. Pies are so popular in New Zealand that there are even the annual New Zealand pie awards.
