One of my favorite things about where I live is the Chesapeake Bay. I am only a 5-10 minute drive from the bay. And no matter what turn you take, you are bound to end up at the bay at some point! Something unique about the Chesapeake is all the wildlife it hosts.
Cow Nose Stingrays are one of the most popular creatures, fascinating creatures in Calvert. During mating season, they travel down to the southern most part of Calvert and come very close to shore. It is quite the show to watch and an incredibly cool experience to be so close to them.
Mating-
Cow Nose stingrays mate in the southern most part of Calvert. They all swim upstream where there they mate in late September. It is an exciting occasion to watch, and there are always boats that set up and take pictures of this event! This is something unique to this part of Maryland. Getting to be so close to wild rays is exciting.
