Freshmen 101

Now that you have a better understanding of college life and early adulthood, here are a few pieces of advice for college freshmen!

  • Get involved on campus. Join extracurricular activities!

  • Work at your own pace. Don’t base your success on somebody else’s.

  • A handful of reliable friends is better than a large group of people who aren’t. It’s okay if you’re not a part of a huge clique that you might see other people in on campus. The real friends who have your best interests at heart are the only ones who matter.

  • Practice self-care. Take naps, meditate, watch a movie, or even practice a hobby! Being a college student can be stressful and very taxing on your mental and emotional health. Never hesitate to reach out for help. There are resources available to you. You don’t have to struggle alone.

  • Utilize your resources! Towson University offers free therapy sessions, a writing center to assist you with papers, study groups, and much more! Use them while you can.
