Be patient: Being patient with your dog is very important especially when it comes to something a dog doesn’t understand. Potty Training can be very difficult for dogs to understand. Using rewards and reinforcement is more effective than using punishment.

How train potty train a dog

  1. Always take your dog outside at least every two hours.
  2. Try to take your dog outside when they wake up, during and after playing, after eating and drinking, and right before bed.
  3. Pick one spot for your dog to use the bathroom. They will associate that spot to using the bathroom.
  4. Reward or praise your dog if they use the bathroom outside and do it immediately.
  5. Make sure the dog is on a regular eating and drinking schedule will also help potty train your dog.
  6. Do not give a dog water right before bed.
  7. If the dog has an accident, do not punish.
  8. Take the outside immediately if they have an accident and reward if they use the bathroom outside.
