Production

The initial proposal for a new space telescope started at NASA back in the 1990’s but did not make it to the actual construction phase until 2003. The contract to build the JWST was awarded to Northrop Grumman who completed the majority of the production with the supervision of NASA and many other collaborating space agencies. Many redesigns were implemented between that year and the final product.
