Chewie’s Favorite Things
Here is a list of Chewie’s top five favorite things as of May 2021.
- Any food that is not his kibble
- Chewie got sick when he was about 4 months old and was taken to the vet hospital. They told us to feed him plain chicken and rice for a couple days while he began to feel better. That first taste of chicken was a mistake. He never looked back. After that day he refused to eat only kibble. He now only eats if he has chicken or rice mixed into his kibble.
- Car rides
- Chewie was used to being in the car, but would always get a little anxious during long rides. We decided to road trip down to Mexico for Christmas in 2019 and he came along. That was a total of 8 days in a minivan to get there and back. During that trip he fell in love with sitting at the window and feeling the wind against his face. He even learned to hop into the passenger seat by himself. He now looks for every opportunity to tag along on a car ride.
- Clothes
- Since we were unprepared to have a dog in our house, we took Chewie along to our first trip to the pet store. We saw a shirt with an avocado on it on sale and put it on him. He now loves all types of clothes. Chewie has shirts, sweaters, jackets, pajamas, and costumes which he is always excited to put on.
- Stuffed animals
- His first toys at our house were some of my old stuffed animals. Chewie ended up only liking stuffed toys after that. He might run after a ball here and there, but he gets attached to his stuffed animals. His current favorites are a dog that is as big as him and a reindeer.
- Walks
- We thought Chewie was going to be the “chill” dog out of his siblings. We were very wrong. He finds a way to be the most energetic tiny dog. His siblings are not fond of walks and might walk a block or two. Chewie loves to walk more than two miles a day and then run around the backyard afterward. He knows that the clinging of his harness means a walk and will follow you until you take him out. I also began asking him if he wanted to go on walks. Chewie now gets excited when you ask “You wanna go for a walk?”. He usually doesn’t let you finish the question before he begins to jump and run around.
