In Eritrea, there are many different types of food to try, these are the most popular ones!
- Shahan ful: A breakfast meal that is a puree that contains soft lava beans, onions lemon juice, berbere (spice), chili peppers, and tomatoes. It’s typically serve with yogurt and bread.
- Hamli: It consist of sautéed collard greens, garlic, cilantro, oil onions, parsley, and tomatoes. You would eat this meal with a sour dough bread called injera
- Kulwa: A dish that consist of lamb or beef chunks fried with berbere, ghee, tomatoes, and onions. It is served with injera
- Zigni: A stew that consist of cubed meat (mostly beef), onions, garlic, tomatoes, and tomato paste and typically add berbere, salt and pepper, and lemon juice. It is served with injera
