Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is my favorite musical artist. She got her start as an up-and-coming country music star at 16 in Nashville, Tennessee, and released her debut album to critical and commercial success in 2006. Her sophomore follow-up, Fearless (2008), was an even greater success, launching Swift into the spotlight. Two more albums followed, Speak Now and Red, before her full-blown transition to pop music with her most successful album to date, 1989 in 2014. Reputation (2017) and Lover (2019) proved that she can transcend genres with her lyrical prose and incredible storytelling. This narrative was further amplified with the releases of folklore and evermore (both 2020), with singer-songwriter, indie themes. Now, Taylor is in the process of re-recording her first six albums, as she is now able to own the masters to her songs she wrote herself. Taylor has proven to be one of, if not the, most successful stars in the world and of this generation due to her ability to convey such specific feelings in her lyrics, as well as her catchy hooks and jaw-dropping live shows. Swift has influenced dozens of artists making a name for themselves, citing her as their musical inspiration.

Taylor has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up on her country albums, and she shaped my identity throughout middle school with 1989. I feel like I have grown as a person along with her, and I am so excited to see what she does next with her re-recorded albums. She has such a strong impact on my life and I relate to her music so much, it feels like she writes just for me. I admire her as a businesswoman and a musical artist, and cannot wait to see what is in store for her future.
