Well before I can say why environmental planning is important I need to tell you what it is ! Environmental planning is the process of “facilitating decision making to carry out land development with the consideration given to the natural environment, social, political, economic and governance factors and provides a holistic framework to achieve sustainable outcomes”. One of major goals of environmental planning is to create sustainable communities and protecting undeveloped land.

- Land development is altering a landscape in different ways including tearing up land for agriculture or housing , during land into lots , and any other type of construction site. These land developments can have negative impacts on the land including increase in particle pollution (greenhouse gases), soil erosion into water ways, pesticides in water ,and extraction of too many raw materials.
