One of my favorite thing about going somewhere if tropical in experiences their beaches as well. El Salvador already had a name for themselves with having some of the best waves to surf on which led them creating a little town called Surf City. This is along Playa El Tunco which has it own outlet of stores, restaurants, and clubs during the night time. Surf City also has a multitude of hotels to choose from that really had made this town a good place for tourists. While there are only certain places you are able to swim when visiting El Tunco, you are able to see the best waves and plenty of surfers in the ocean. The climate here is wonderful and is the place I got to take one of my favorite pictures of my father. (August 2021, Tamanique, El Salvador)
One of my favorite beaches that my parents took me too often growing up was La Playa Negra in Intipua, La Union which is where my dad is from. They call it Playa Negra because the sand is almost pitch black even though the water is crystal clear, but this is because there use to be a lot of volcanic activity in the region. This means that the tiny particles of volcanic rock has been mixed in with the sand there making it look black. Unlike El Tunco, where it is known for their strong waves fr surfers, this beach is a lot more calm and allows for safe swimming. Even closer to where my dad grew up was a restaurant by Las Tunas that was built right on top of a huge rock. As the tide starts to come in the restaurant is surrounded by water, but it never gets higher that the base of the restaurant which makes the view very stunning.
